Account details in the dashboard holds the two things a trade needs in order to settle: where the money goes and where the units are. You can save both as soon as you have an account.
Bank account
Proceeds of an escrow sale are paid to this account, so a seller needs it before a payout. Enter the account name, the bank and the account number in the usual New Zealand form, for example 01-0001-0000001-00.
In a direct sale, the buyer is given this account (if it is saved) so they know where to pay you. Tell the buyer directly if you want to be paid somewhere else.
Emissions Trading Register account
Add your Register account if you want to sell units held in your own account, have purchased units delivered to it, or buy or sell direct. Enter the account holder name exactly as the Register shows it, and the account number in the form NZ-12345. In a direct sale, the seller is given the buyer's Register account number to transfer to.
Saving these details does not give Carbon Trader® any access to your Register account. We never ask for your RealMe login or Register password.
Once the details are saved, the my ETS account option becomes available on the Sell NZUs screen.
Confirming a change
Because these two accounts decide where your money and units go, saving a change asks you to confirm it is you: enter your password (a code from your authenticator app also works). An account that signs in with Carbon Tracker® needs to have signed in within the last 15 minutes; if it has not, sign out, sign in again and save. We email you whenever either account changes, so a change you did not make does not go unnoticed. Before paying out to a bank account that has just changed, the desk may ring you to confirm it.
Carbon Trader wallet
Purchased units can be held in a Carbon Trader wallet as an alternative to delivery to your own Register account. Balances and withdrawals are on the Custody wallet screen. See Wallet and custody.
Your name, date of birth and address
These are not part of Account details. They are given once, as they appear on your ID, in the Confirm identity step, which is needed when a trade of yours first goes into escrow. After your identity is confirmed, contact us to change them, which protects the link between the confirmed person and the account.
Password and sign-in security
Your password and the optional authenticator app are on the same screen. See Sign in, passwords and security.
Notifications
Messages about your trades, payments, account and security are sent by email to your account address. See Notifications.
