Registration and secure verification

The registration journey is designed to verify identity/contact details first, then collect the trading profile needed for marketplace and settlement access.

Step 1 — Start registration

From the website, open the join/registration section and enter the requested starter details. The system creates a registration ID. Keep this ID if support asks for it.

Step 2 — Complete secure verification

Use the secure verification button in the registration journey. Carbon Trader uses third-party verification services to check identity, contact details and liveness.

After verification succeeds, the registration should show synced details such as email and mobile. If identity is approved but Carbon Trader still shows KYC pending, the most common reason is that the applicant has not completed the trading profile step yet.

Step 3 — Complete the trading profile

After verification syncs, complete the trading profile. Typical details include:

  • Public username/handle.
  • Name, email and mobile from verification.
  • Company or trading name, if applicable.
  • Business/entity type and account mode.
  • Address.
  • NZ bank account name, bank and account number.
  • ETS account details if you want NZUs delivered to your own ETS account.
  • Carbon Trader® Wallet custody preference if you want Carbon Trader custody.
  • Notification preferences.
  • Required acknowledgements and consents.
  • Password where the current login flow requires one.

Step 4 — Submit application

When submitted, the application enters review. Status may become auto review or manual review.

You cannot fully use the account centre until your registration is approved. You may receive email updates while the application is reviewed.

If you completed verification but cannot get back to the trading profile step, Carbon Trader support can send a secure continue link. The link resumes your existing registration; it does not create a new account and does not approve the application.

Approval

After approval, you can sign in from the account button and use the approved-customer tools. If the approval email includes a temporary password or reset instructions, follow that email exactly.

Common registration problems

Problem What it usually means What to do
Sumsub or verification says approved, but Carbon Trader says KYC pending. Verification is complete, but the trading profile step is not submitted. Use the continue link or return to registration and finish the profile step.
You cannot sign in after submitting. Approval is not complete yet. Wait for approval email.
Details did not sync after verification. Provider sync may be delayed or incomplete. Refresh once; if still blocked, contact support with registration ID.
You accidentally started more than one registration. Duplicate registrations can create confusing statuses. Contact support and use only the current continuation link.
