Platform Disclosures

Important information about Carbon Trader®, its services, limits, risks, verification, escrow and policy framework.

Effective date: 30 May 2026. Last revised: 3 November 2026. These are the current published terms for Carbon Trader® website and platform use.

Platform operator

Carbon Trader is operated by Trend Enterprises Limited (NZBN: 9429048521130) t/a Carbon Trader®. Carbon Trader's Financial Services Registered Provider number is FSP1008496.

What Carbon Trader does

Carbon Trader provides a carbon-market platform for NZUs and selected voluntary and international carbon credits: public marketplace listings, managed escrow for sellers who choose it, introductions between buyers and sellers for direct sales, settlement coordination, digital wallet records, evidence packs, claim-risk support and supplier intake.

What Carbon Trader does not do

Carbon Trader is not a government agency, regulator, NZETR operator, tax adviser, legal adviser, accountant, auditor, forestry consultant or environmental certification body. Users should obtain their own professional advice before buying, selling, holding, transferring, retiring or making claims about carbon credits.

Escrow and settlement

From 28 October 2026 the seller chooses, for each listing, whether it sells with Carbon Trader-managed escrow or directly, and every listing shows buyers, before they buy, whether it is escrow-protected or direct. With escrow, the buyer pays Carbon Trader against an invoice, Carbon Trader holds the money in its client settlement account and holds the units, completes the trade when both are in, and then pays the seller. Wanted requests and listings created before 28 October 2026 settle through escrow. In a direct sale, available only for units in the seller's own NZETR account, Carbon Trader gives each party the other's contact details once the buyer has bought; the buyer pays the seller and the seller transfers the units directly. Carbon Trader holds neither the money nor the units in a direct sale, is not a party to it, does not check that payment or transfer happened and gives no protection. Sellers or their authorised NZETR representatives remain responsible for initiating NZETR transfers. Carbon Trader does not require NZETR or RealMe credentials.

AML/CFT, verification and privacy

Carbon Trader may require customer due diligence, KYB, beneficial-owner information, source-of-funds checks, source-of-credit checks, sanctions screening, PEP checks and ongoing monitoring. Identity is verified in-house under the Identity Verification Code of Practice 2026. It is verified once, when a transaction first enters managed escrow (a buyer before an invoice is issued, a seller before sale proceeds are released) and before a custody wallet withdrawal is processed. It is not required to create an account, browse or list units, and it is not carried out for a direct sale, in which Carbon Trader holds neither money nor units. Carbon Trader uses third-party providers including Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage), Mailgun (platform email), Xero (invoicing), Zoho Mail (the info@carbontrader.nz mailbox), Google (analytics) and other operational providers.

Market and claim risk

Carbon credit prices, eligibility, regulatory treatment, registry rules, project quality and environmental-claim suitability may change. Carbon Trader may provide evidence and claim-risk support, but does not guarantee that any credit supports every legal, reporting, marketing or environmental claim.

Insurance disclosure

Carbon Trader maintains public liability insurance up to NZD $100,000, subject to policy wording, exclusions and limits. This is not a guarantee of transaction performance, investment outcome, credit quality, client money protection, cyber-loss protection or registry-loss protection.

Fees

The Carbon Trader® fee schedule explains published platform fees, indicative estimates, pass-through costs and GST treatment for marketplace, settlement, evidence and claim workflows. From 9 October 2026 a marketplace listing of NZUs costs NZD $29.00 including GST, payable by the seller, and no success fee is payable by the buyer or the seller. From 28 October 2026 a seller who sells with escrow pays an escrow fee of NZD $159.00 plus GST (NZD $182.85 including GST) on each completed sale, deducted from the sale proceeds; the buyer pays only the price of the units, and no escrow fee applies to a direct sale.
