Buying units on Carbon Trader®
Browse the units for sale, or post a wanted request with the quantity you are after so holders can come to you. Each listing says whether it is escrow-protected, where your money is held until the units have arrived, or a direct sale settled with the seller. A wanted request is always paid into escrow. Fees are published on the fee schedule.
Who this fits
Obligation fuel participants who import or refine petrol, diesel, jet fuel, aviation spirit or fuel oil, along with disposal facility operators, coal purchasers and importers, natural gas purchasers, HFC and refrigerant importers, and any Schedule 4 opt-in participant managing its own obligations.
The fuel calculator follows the regulation 5 and 6 method, for participants who import or refine obligation fuel. Opt-in purchasers of obligation fuel are a separate participant class with their own method under regulations 7 and 8, which this calculator does not cover. Talk to us if that is you.

Emissions returns are filed with the EPA and units are surrendered through the New Zealand Emissions Trading Register. This calculator shows indicative figures from the statutory factors. It never files or surrenders on your behalf, and nothing on this page is financial, legal or tax advice.
