Part 11 - Environmental Claims and Evidence Policy
1. Purpose
Carbon Trader supports credible climate and environmental claims by requiring evidence, clarity and claim-risk checks.
2. Claim categories
Carbon Trader may classify claims as:
- NZ ETS compliance;
- voluntary offset;
- retirement claim;
- contribution claim;
- funding verified climate action;
- CORSIA / aviation claim;
- Article 6 / corresponding adjustment claim;
- nature or biodiversity claim;
- internal portfolio claim;
- not suitable for public claim.
3. Required evidence
Carbon Trader may require project, standard, registry, vintage, quantity, retirement record, claim basis, public wording, host-country status, corresponding adjustment status and auditor requirements.
4. Prohibited or restricted claims
Carbon Trader may reject claims that are unsupported, exaggerated, misleading, inconsistent with credit type, double counted, unclear, unsupported by retirement/cancellation, or contrary to Commerce Commission guidance.
5. User responsibility
Users remain responsible for their own marketing, sustainability reports, climate disclosures, product claims and public statements.
